Concept Note

INTRODUCTION TO THE CONCEPT

From the point of view of an outsider, I found the Kathmandu Valley to be such a divine place and full of mysterious and historical happenings from the past. I see that since then Bodhisattva Manjushree had the idea and started to settle the Kathmandu as a habitation.   From time to time, we get to see the facts that the creation of history is in the womb. However, these secrets will be revealed in the future, but the unique examples of literature, art, and architecture created in history have given us pride and recognition until now. Yes, in the same 12th century, the Malla civilization started in Nepal, and in Europe at the same time, century war and Gothic and Renaissance started in different periods. We have been able to witness this development of cultural monuments until recently. So my basic concept in my painting is to show the glorious period of history in a pictorial way as a golden period.

For some time now, my work has been focused on heritage. I am trying to connect the reference that Bodhisattva Manjushree cut the southern part of the Kathmandu Valley, which is in the form of a lake, and sent the water out of the valley and settled the settlement. Over time, there have been various problems in this place where the Bagmati civilization began. Even now we are not able to clean the dirt inside us. As a symbol of that, I have kept the statue of Manjushree still sitting with a sword in her hand.

DESCRIPTION OF THE ARTWORK

I think The golden hour refers to the morning hour term in photography and I want to relate it with the golden time of history and the development of artifacts and artistry. In the meantime, the painting tries to document the pictorial form of the golden era of Nepali’s glorious history as well as tries to differentiate the era from the time and today’s contemporary time. This artwork includes as far as all the monumental parts of the Kathmandu Valley and the daily lifestyle too. The painting will be in a dominant golden color. The composition will be based on the prominent architecture and include the celebrations and the people’s activities. The overall concept tries to connect with the idea of spirituality in the sense that I feel when I go through these areas I feel vibes of history and I feel like I am walking in the divine place where once god and goddess used to dwell. I feel lucky to be here.
